PRP Selects Donald Duke as Presidential Candidate for 2027

The People's Redemption Party (PRP) has officially chosen Donald Duke, the former governor of Cross River State, as its presidential candidate for the upcoming 2027 general elections. In an interview with Trust TV on Wednesday, Hakeem Baba Ahmed, the chairman of the PRP, explained that Duke's selection is aimed at representing a major break from the past and focusing on future possibilities.

Baba Ahmed emphasized that Duke's candidacy is designed to attract individuals who align with the party's principles and ideology. He noted that Duke met the criteria necessary to contest against three other candidates interested in the ticket from the southern part of Nigeria.

Interestingly, Baba Ahmed pointed out that not a single candidate from the northern region has submitted a form to contest, indicating a strategic decision to avoid damaging divisions between the north and south during this election cycle.
