Kingslei Sues Duke Over PRP Presidential Candidacy

Yakubu Kingslei, a presidential aspirant for the People's Redemption Party (PRP), has initiated legal action against Donald Duke regarding his candidacy for the 2027 presidential elections. The lawsuit, filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja (suit mark FHC/ABJ/CS/1234/2026), alleges that Duke was not a registered member of the PRP at the time required by law, specifically before the party's primary elections held on May 25, 2026.

Kingslei's lawyer, D. Sulyman, argues that Duke's emergence as the party's flagbearer should be nullified due to this alleged non-compliance.

The suit questions the validity of votes recorded during the primary elections in Bauchi, Gombe, and Kwara states, claiming discrepancies in the number of votes cast versus registered members. Kingslei seeks a court order to prevent the Independent National Electoral Commission from recognizing Duke as the party's presidential candidate and to remove his name from the electoral body’s database.

The case highlights concerns over the integrity of the party's primary election process.
