Wike Rejects Obi's Election Claims, Predicts Easy 2027 Win

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, on a TVC program, dismissed claims by Peter Obi, the Labour Party's presidential candidate, that he won the 2023 presidential election in Rivers State, asserting that such victories were only in their imagination. Wike emphasized that political victories are determined at polling units and declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), not through social media.

He criticized the reliance on isolated polling units, noting that Rivers State has over 7,000 polling units. Wike expressed confidence that the 2027 elections would be his easiest, recalling his past electoral victories despite challenges, including federal pressure.

He stated that his political strength comes from his track record and direct connection with the people, questioning what rivals could present to convince Rivers residents to support them over his leadership.
