PDP Distances Itself from Wike's Support for Tinubu

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has clarified that Nyesom Wike's support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is a personal decision and does not reflect the party's official stance for the 2027 presidential election. The PDP, represented by National Publicity Secretary Honourable Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, stated that discussions between Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, and the PDP's presidential candidate, Senator Sandy Onor, were friendly and did not alter the party's commitment to contest the election scheduled for January 16, 2027.

Wike acknowledged his support for Tinubu during an Arise News interview, asserting that it does not prevent the PDP from fielding candidates in other elections. The Independent National Electoral Commission recognizes the PDP's National Working Committee, led by Honourable Abdulrahman Mohammed, which has officially listed Onor as the party's presidential candidate.
