Zamfara APC Denies Adopting Muktar Idris as 2027 Governorship Candidate Amidst Intraparty Tensions

The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has refuted claims of endorsing Alhaji Muktar Idris as its gubernatorial candidate for the 2027 elections. This denial comes amidst widespread speculation that Idris, a former governorship candidate, would challenge former Governor Bello Matawalle, who won the 2019 governorship election.

The rumors circulating on social media have led to divisions within the APC, with members expressing contrasting opinions on Idris' candidacy. Mallam Yusuf Idris, the Public Secretary of Zamfara APC, dismissed the reports as baseless and urged party members to remain focused on strengthening the party.

While some within the party support Ibrahim Abdullahi's renomination, others like Salisu Yahaya argue for Matawalle's right to contest for a second term. Additionally, Alhaji Sani Shehu and Abdulmalik Zubairu have backed different aspirants, showcasing the diversity of opinions within the party ahead of the primaries.
