Senate Questions Tinubu Over ₦210 Trillion NNPCL Discrepancy

The Senate, through Aliyu Wadada, a lawmaker from Nasarawa West Senatorial District, stated that they are prepared to question President Bola Tinubu if necessary regarding a ₦210 trillion discrepancy in the financial records of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL). During an appearance on Channels Television, Wadada emphasized that the Senate Committee on Public Accounts does not believe Tinubu is aware of the alleged discrepancies.

The committee is conducting a review of NNPCL's accounts from 2017 to 2023 and has identified two major figures that lack proper substantiation, including ₦103 trillion attributed to joint venture cash calls. The committee flagged ₦107 trillion listed as sundry receipts from various bank entities as unverifiable due to a lack of transparency.

Additionally, lawmakers questioned ₦5.9 billion reportedly spent on the company's rebranding and alleged irregularities in product cost subsidies, demanding reconciled records from current management.
