Over 2.2 Million Candidates for 2026 UTME in Nigeria

The 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) is scheduled to take place nationwide from April 16 to April 22, with over 2.2 million candidates expected to sit for the exam across accredited centers. The examination will be conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in multiple sessions daily.

Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the Registrar of JAMB, has urged examination officials to demonstrate maximum commitment and professionalism to ensure the success of the UTME.

He provided a virtual briefing to technical officers ahead of the examination, highlighting the importance of handling examination materials and timely report submissions. Oloyede reiterated JAMB's zero-tolerance policy towards examination malpractice and warned candidates against bringing prohibited items into the examination hall.

Advanced technology, including biometric verification and real-time monitoring systems, will be deployed to safeguard the integrity of the examination. Candidates whose biometric details cannot be verified will have their examination rescheduled.
