2026 UTME Begins Smoothly in Abuja CBT Centres

The 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) began on April 16, 2026, across Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres in Abuja, with reports indicating an orderly and efficient conduct of the examination. Peter Agunloy, a supervisor at Peter Harvard CBT Centre, noted that the first session proceeded without technical issues, reflecting improvements in the system's readiness.

The examination is scheduled to run until April 22, 2026, across 966 accredited centres nationwide, with an expected participation of 2.2 million candidates. Strict entry checks were implemented to prevent misconduct, and biometric verification was conducted smoothly, with only two candidates facing challenges.

The examination commenced as scheduled, with early verification processes starting at 6:30 AM. Agunloy emphasized the importance of backup systems to avoid technical failures that had previously disrupted examinations.

The overall conduct of the examination was described as hitch-free, with personnel on the ground ensuring a smooth process.
