Nigeria Women's Cricket Team Prepares for 2026 Tournament

The Nigeria Cricket Federation is organizing the 2026 Women's Invitational Tournament, set to take place from March 18 to 29 at the Tafawa Balewa Square Cricket Oval in Lagos. A total of 24 players are currently in training camp in Benin City, Edo State, competing for 14 spots in the final squad.

This tournament marks the return of the event after a year-long break and will feature Nigeria alongside Ghana, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, and South Africa. Notably, the U19 women's team from Nigeria will make its first appearance in this competition.

The tournament aims to enhance Nigeria's position as a leading hub for women's cricket in Africa and will include youth cricket clinics and stakeholder engagement activities to strengthen grassroots participation. The Nigerian women's team, known as the "femal yellow green," previously won the tournament in 2023 but surrendered the title to Tanzania in 2024.
