Nigeria to Host T20 Invitational Tournament in March

The Nigeria Cricket Federation, led by President Uyi Akpata, is preparing to host a five-nation T20 invitational tournament in Lagos from March 18 to 29. This tournament will feature teams from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Uganda, and Ghana, marking a significant return after a year-long hiatus.

Akpata noted that this is the fifth edition of the tournament, which will take place at Tafawa Balewa Square and UNILAG Cricket Oval. He expressed confidence in the Nigerian team, highlighting their readiness to compete against high-caliber players from other nations.

The tournament aims to enhance the popularity of cricket in Nigeria and showcase the country's capabilities on an international stage. Akpata also acknowledged the support from sponsors, particularly Lotu Bank, which has committed significantly to the tournament.

The event is expected to reinforce Nigeria's position as a hub for women's cricket in Africa, following the Nigerian women's team's recent successes.
