24-Year-Old Arrested in N48.5m Romance Scam at Lagos Airport

A 24-year-old suspect identified as Precious Onudhona from Delta State was apprehended at Lagos Airport for an alleged N48.5 million scam involving romance fraud. The arrest was made by the Anti-Fraud Unit of the Airport Police Command on February 2, 2026.

Investigations revealed that the suspect had been involved in fraudulent activities since 2023, joining a syndicate that engaged in romance scams targeting unsuspecting victims via social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram. The suspect allegedly posed as a fake American medical doctor to solicit funds from victims under false pretenses of needing money for medical supplies.

The Airport Police Command in Lagos, led by CP Ogunbodede Olufunke, emphasized a zero-tolerance stance against criminal activities within the airport ecosystem. The suspect is set to be transferred to the Interpol section for further investigation and prosecution.
