Katsina Police Arrest 247 Suspects, Rescue 17 Victims

In August 2026, the Katsina State Police Command arrested 247 suspects and rescued 17 kidnapped victims during various operations across the state. Police Public Relations Officer Abubakar Sadiq announced these achievements during a press conference on Friday at the Command Headquarters in Katsina, representing Commissioner of Police Ali Fage.

The command recovered 145 suspected rustled livestock, six motorcycles, a vehicle, an AK-47 rifle, and 1,500 pieces of ready-to-use therapeutic food. Among the arrested suspects were three suspected kidnappers, 15 armed robbery suspects, four informants to armed bandits, 31 drug peddlers, and 20 suspects linked to rape and sodomy.

A total of 122 major criminal cases were reported, with 89 cases charged to court after preliminary investigations. The rescued victims were debriefed, medically examined, and reunited with their families.

Sadiq attributed the operational successes to inter-agency collaboration and sustained patrols, which improved response times and effectiveness in tackling crimes such as kidnapping and banditry.
