Kaduna Police Rescue Kidnap Victims, Arrest 12 Suspects

On September 16, 2026, the Kaduna State Police Command conducted operations in Ikara and Makarfi Local Government Areas, resulting in the rescue of two kidnapped victims, the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, and the arrest of 12 suspects. The operation in Ikara, led by the DPO Ikara and supported by the Kaduna Vigilance Service (KADVS), targeted the residence of Haruna Yakubu in Yoromowa, Auchanawa Village, where armed resistance was encountered.

Four suspected kidnappers, identified as Kabiru Haruna, Suleman Abdulkarim, Yusuf Haruna (also known as Burgagau), and another suspect, were neutralized during the exchange of fire. The police also arrested suspects including Yahaya Hassan (60), Usman Hassan (40), and others, who are assisting in investigations.

In a separate operation on September 15, police recovered two locally made guns and three sacks of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp in the Arabu Forest Reserve area. Commissioner of Police Muhammad Rabiu commended the efforts of the police and KADVS in these operations.
