2nd Dawule Baba Memorial Polo Tournament Set for 2026

The 2nd Dawule Baba Memorial Polo Tournament will be held from June 11-14, 2026, at the polo grounds of Murtala Mohammed Square in Kaduna. This tournament honors the legacy of Dawul Baba, a celebrated figure in Nigerian polo who passed away last year at the age of 66.

Baba was a respected member of the board of trustees of the Kaduna Polo Club and was known as the "polo professor." The tournament will feature teams competing in high goal, medium goal, and low goal categories, as well as youth and veteran games. A total of 14 teams are expected to participate, including players from outside Kaduna, emphasizing the event's national appeal.

The first vice president of the Kaduna Polo Club, Kapeh Kazir, stated that the tournament is designed to celebrate Baba's enduring legacy and contributions to the development of polo in Nigeria. The event aims to attract polo enthusiasts and will also include the unveiling of the Dawul Baba Polo Field as a tribute to the late ambassador of the sport.
