Three Killed in Bayelsa Cult Clash Amid Rising Violence

On Sunday, three people were shot dead during a cult clash in Igbogen, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. The violence involved two rival cult groups, the Greenland and Boboo, fighting for control over the area.

This incident follows a previous clash two weeks ago, which had already claimed six lives. One of the victims, identified as Ebi, was reportedly a member of the Boboo cult group.

Residents described the situation as chaotic, with gunshots causing panic and forcing many to flee their homes for safety. Business activities in the area were abruptly halted due to the violence.

Community leaders have appealed for calm, urging the youth to reject violence and embrace peace. Additionally, residents have called on the state government and security agencies to take proactive measures to prevent further bloodshed.

Bayelsa State police spokesman DSP Musa Muhammad confirmed that an investigation has commenced to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects involved in the clash.
