Three Mourners Killed in Benue State Attack

On a Sunday, three mourners were gunned down in an attack in Benue State while attending a burial ceremony. The incident occurred after a burial on Saturday night, when armed assailants ambushed the mourners, resulting in the deaths of Bem Msughter, Mbakyombo Daav, and Ikov Aondo.

Additionally, two other individuals, identified as Arinz Igbo and Chia Mbamegh, were abducted during the assault. Simon Gabo, a lawmaker representing the Ushongo state constituency in the Benue State House of Assembly, condemned the recurring violence in the area, attributing the attacks to local militia.

The lawmaker reported that the attack took place around 4 PM on Sunday and highlighted the ongoing security challenges in the region, particularly in the Katsina-Ala local government area. Following the incident, police were deployed to enhance security in the community, although attempts to reach the police public relations office were unsuccessful at the time of the report.
