Thugs Disrupt Mass Burial, Abduct Mortuary Attendant in Benue

On Thursday, a mass burial in Benue State was disrupted when thugs abducted a mortuary attendant, preventing families from accessing the bodies of their loved ones who were victims of a recent bandit attack. The incident occurred in Tyungu Jam Mbaav Community, Kwand Local Government Area, where several people had been killed and others injured.

State Governor Hyacinth Alia issued a statement condemning the senseless killings and calling for security operations to apprehend the attackers. The mass burial was intended for eleven victims of the bandit attack, and the disruption drew condemnation from various quarters, including the state chapter of the People's Democratic Party, which alleged that the attack was sponsored.

The situation has raised concerns about the safety of communities facing systematic violence from armed Fulani bandits, with calls for immediate investigations into the abduction of the mortuary attendant and the overall security situation in the area.
