NAF Confirms ATR-42 Military Aircraft Crash in Ondo

On October 5, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) confirmed that an ATR-42 military aircraft, tail number NGR 931, crashed in the Igbokoda area of Ilaje Local Government Area, Ondo State. The aircraft was on a routine mission from Benin to Lagos, carrying 25 passengers and seven crew members.
Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame stated that search and rescue operations are ongoing, coordinated with relevant authorities and emergency response agencies. Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, reported that contact with the aircraft was lost at approximately 9:13 a.m., and efforts to re-establish communication were unsuccessful.
The wreckage was located near the Naval Base in Igbokoda. While the identities of those on board have not been disclosed, authorities have not confirmed any fatalities or survivors as rescue operations continue.
