39 Residents Abducted in Zamfara During Bandit Dialogue

On June 7, 2026, at approximately 3:00 PM, at least 39 residents of Magamin Diddi in Maradun Local Government Area, Zamfara State, were abducted by armed bandits during a dialogue with the parents of the notorious bandit leader identified as Jimo Smalli. The Zamfara State Police Command, through spokesperson Yazid Abubakar, confirmed that an investigation had begun to rescue the victims.

Following the report, the police launched immediate efforts to trace the whereabouts of the abducted individuals. In a separate operation on the same day at 6:00 PM, a joint security team, including the Violent Crime Response Unit of the Zamfara State Police Command and civil security volunteers, engaged heavily armed bandits in the Jangeb Forest area, resulting in the neutralization of three suspects and the recovery of weapons and motorcycles.

No casualties were reported among the police personnel during this operation.
