Yobe Governor Approves Automatic Employment for Nurses

On Tuesday, during the graduation ceremony held in Damaturu, Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni announced the automatic employment of 416 nursing and midwifery graduates from Shehu Sule College of Nursing Science. The graduates include 158 community nurses, 196 basic nursing midwives, and 62 Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates.

Governor Buni, represented by Deputy Hon. Idi Bard Gubana, emphasized that this initiative is part of the state government's efforts to meet personnel needs and improve healthcare service delivery across health facilities in Yobe State.

Over the past seven years, the state government has invested in the college, which has proven beneficial for the people. In recent years, 3,500 healthcare workers have been employed from the college, contributing to the provision of adequately qualified professional manpower.

Provost Hajiya Hadiza Sabo disclosed that from 2019 to 2026, a total of 1,485 students will receive automatic employment upon completion of their studies, significantly improving the recruitment, deployment, and retention of healthcare personnel in the state.
