469 Children Die of Malnutrition in 6 Months in Kano, Nigeria

In Kano State, Nigeria, 469 children have died of malnutrition in 6 months. Professor Ruqayya Aliyu Yusuf of Bayero University Kano presented a paper on improving malnutrition through behavior change.

The region faces challenges with poor dietary practices, with 40% of Nigerian children and 51.9% of Kano children experiencing stunted growth. Amina Ado Yahaya emphasized the need for local initiatives like homestead vegetable gardens to address undernutrition and vitamin deficiencies leading to childhood blindness.
