Boko Haram Attack in Adamawa Claims Five Security Lives
On Saturday night, suspected Boko Haram insurgents attacked the Tela-Bala and Guyaku communities in Adamawa around 11:20 PM, resulting in the deaths of five security operatives, including four soldiers and one Forest Guard. A resident, Bala Guyaku, reported that the attack began while many were asleep, forcing some to escape through a little-known footpath.
The insurgents operated throughout the night and attempted to advance towards Gombi, the local government headquarters, but were repelled by troops. Guyaku mentioned that the attackers also targeted a military armoured personnel carrier (APC) at a checkpoint, attempting to steal it and set it ablaze, but were unsuccessful.
Rufa’i Umar Gombi, the member representing Gombi Constituency in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, confirmed the attack and stated he was heading to assess the situation. He indicated that the casualty figures were yet to be officially confirmed.
Efforts to contact local officials and the Joint Task Force for further information were unsuccessful.
