Goodluck Jonathan Responds to Youths on 2027 Candidacy

Former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan urged Nigerian youths to actively participate in the electoral process during an event where many youths appealed for him to run in the 2027 presidential election. He expressed concern over the apathy among young citizens regarding elections and called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to address this issue.

Concurrently, a legal suit has been filed in Abuja seeking to prevent Jonathan from contesting in the upcoming presidential election. The suit, initiated by lawyer Johnmari Jideobi, requests the court to declare Jonathan constitutionally ineligible to run again, citing that he has already completed a full term following the death of former President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua.

The case is set to be heard by Justice Peter Lifu, with the plaintiff arguing that Jonathan's potential candidacy would violate constitutional limits on presidential tenure.
