Six Imams Abducted in Zamfara Before Tinubu Prayer Event

Six Juma'at Imams were abducted by suspected bandits while traveling to a special prayer session associated with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's 2027 re-election campaign. The incident occurred approximately three kilometers from Damri village, at Gidan Suleiman Bature in the Gonar Sarkin Forest, as the clerics were en route to Talata Mafara.

The event was organized by the Director-General of the 2027 re-election campaign council, a former governor. Among the abducted were Malam Shehu, Liman Yahuza, Liman Bala, and Na'ibi Tasi'u, with most hailing from Bakura Local Government Area.

Additionally, two other individuals and a driver named Abun Abu were also abducted. One victim was released after paying a ransom of N1.9 million.

Local residents reported that armed bandits control several surrounding villages, imposing levies on farmers and creating a climate of fear. DSP Yazid Abubakar confirmed the abduction and stated that security forces had initiated a rescue mission, though no security presence was noted in the area as of midnight following the incident.
