British Grandma Seeks Divorce After Nigerian Husband Disappears

Dawn Ottewell, a 68-year-old British grandmother from Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, has expressed distress over the disappearance of her 31-year-old Nigerian husband, Bright Emokpae, after he arrived in the UK on a spouse visa. The couple met on dating apps in 2021, and they married in Northern Cyprus on March 22, 2022.

After Bright returned to Nigeria to process his spouse visa, he was picked up by Dawn at Heathrow Airport when it was approved. However, their relationship deteriorated as Bright became distant, requested money, and sent funds back to Nigeria.

After a brief separation in October 2023, they reconciled, but Bright vanished after Dawn returned from a Caribbean cruise in late 2023. She has not heard from him in about eight months and suspects he may be in Scotland running an online clothing business.

Concerned about her possessions, Dawn is seeking assistance from the Citizens Advice Bureau to locate Bright and file for divorce.
