Coca-Cola's Impactful Initiatives in Nigeria

The Coca-Cola Company and The Coca-Cola Foundation are implementing significant initiatives in Nigeria aimed at sustainability and community empowerment. One key project is the Strengthening Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (S-WASH) programme in Borno State, which has improved access to clean water for over 16,000 people by repairing boreholes and installing handwashing stations in Maiduguri.

In Imo State, efforts to restore the Otamiri River's ecosystem have involved replanting over 15,000 cubic metres of riverbank vegetation. Additionally, Coca-Cola's initiatives address plastic waste through programs like the Empowering Collectors Initiative and the Plastics Recycling Programme (PReP), which have created income opportunities for many Nigerians.

A new Packaging Collection Hub in Apapa, Lagos, has been established to process up to 13,000 metric tonnes of PET bottles annually, supporting over 1,000 informal waste collectors. These efforts not only enhance environmental sustainability but also strengthen local communities.
