PDP Secretariat Shutdown Continues Amid Factional Leadership Dispute

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) secretariat has been shut for 83 days as two factions led by Tanimu Turaki and Seyi Makinde continue to clash over leadership. The National Working Committee (NWC) led by Dr.

Tanimu Turaki is at odds with the faction supported by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Abdulrahman Moham. The faction led by Nyesom Wike operates outside the party's official headquarters.

The factions are embroiled in legal disputes, with tensions escalating as each claims legitimacy. The police have barricaded the premises, preventing either faction from taking control.

The situation worsened when a faction led by Senat Samuel Anyanwu declared independence from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The Turaki-led faction insists on following legal processes before resuming activities at the secretariat, while the Wike-backed faction awaits police clearance.

The closure stems from violent clashes in November, leading to a political standoff involving PDP governors and the FCT Minister.
