Abuja Police Deployed to Prevent Clashes at PDP Secretariat Amid Factional Tensions

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command in Abuja has deployed personnel to prevent potential clashes between rival factions of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) at the party's secretariat. This action comes as tensions escalate within the party after Abdulrahman Moham's caretaker committee attempted to reopen the sealed national secretariat at Wadata Plaza in Abuja.

The secretariat was sealed by the police following violent clashes in 2025. Samuel Anyanwu, a member of the caretaker committee, announced plans to reopen the secretariat on Monday, dismissing legal impediments.

However, Tanimu Turaki, leading another faction, refuted Anyanwu's claims and accused him of deceit. Ememobong, a party official, warned against reopening the secretariat without legal resolution.

The police have been reminded not to allow a breakdown of law and order and to await court decisions before taking action. The FCT Police Command spokesperson, Josephin Adeh, declined to provide further details on the reopening plans.
