840,000 Foreigners Overstay Visas in Nigeria, Says Minister

During a television interview on Tuesday, Nigerian Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo disclosed that approximately 840,000 foreigners are overstaying their visas in Nigeria. This figure was derived from a newly improved immigration tracking system, which aims to address irregular migration issues.

The minister emphasized that many foreigners are living in Nigeria without proper documentation, which affects the country's international relations. The announcement comes at a time when there is growing public discourse regarding migration, particularly following the signing of three agreements on March 19 aimed at enhancing cooperation on migration matters.

These agreements are based on mutual understanding and equal treatment among nations, with the goal of creating a proper system to safely control the movement of people and tackle illegal migration, human trafficking, and smuggling.
