UNIBEN's New Initiatives Under Prof. Omoregi's Leadership

Prof. Bright Edoba Omoregi, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), is leading transformative initiatives aimed at redefining the university's landscape.

His administration has focused on infrastructure renewal, academic expansion, and student welfare. Notable projects include the introduction of solar-powered tricycles for shuttle services within the Ugbowo campus, addressing rising transport costs and promoting sustainable energy solutions.

A proposed ₦100 billion University of Benin Trust Development Fund aims to mobilize resources for academic excellence and infrastructure development, with a target launch date of July 4, 2026. Under Omoregi's leadership, UNIBEN has recorded milestones such as increased postgraduate student enrollment and the approval of six new undergraduate and postgraduate programs for the 2026/2027 academic session.

The administration is also committed to enhancing the university's research profile and improving campus facilities, including a new ultra-modern faculty of social sciences and better power supply to support academic activities.
