UNIBEN VC Commends NIS Transformation During Abuja Visit

On a courtesy visit to the National Institute for Sports (NIS) in Abuja, Professor Edoba Bright Omoregi, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), praised Comrade Philip Shaibu, the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of NIS, for the remarkable transformation of the institute's athletic development center. The visit aimed to strengthen the partnership between UNIBEN and NIS, focusing on mutual respect and collaboration to advance sports education in Nigeria.

Professor Omoregi expressed pride in the association with NIS and noted that the collaboration aligns with the mandates of the Federal Ministry of Sports. He emphasized UNIBEN's commitment to academic excellence and sports development.

Shaibu appreciated the Vice Chancellor's support and expressed optimism that their collaboration would yield significant benefits for sports education in Nigeria. He disclosed that NIS's 10-year strategic development plan had already commenced, which includes academic activities in collaboration with UNIBEN, such as diploma and certification programs for coaches.
