LGAN Launches Girls in Golf Initiative for Young Female Players

The Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria (LGAN) has initiated the Girls in Golf program to introduce young girls to golf and create development pathways for future female golfers in Nigeria. The event, which attracted more than 60 participants, was held on Monday at the IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja, coinciding with the activities leading up to the 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT).
Dr Lami Ahmed, LGAN President and Chairperson of the Local Organising Committee, stated that the initiative aims to extend golf's impact beyond competition by investing in youth and creating opportunities for their development. She emphasized the importance of introducing girls to golf early to build their confidence and skills for future careers.
Ahmed acknowledged the support of Senator Oluremi Tinubu, First Lady and founder of the Renewed Hope Initiative, for the program. Preparations for the AACT are progressing well, with teams from at least 20 African countries expected to participate in the week-long championship.
