Nigeria to Host 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy in Abuja
Nigeria is preparing to host the 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT) from November 2 to 7 at the IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja. The event aims to attract participants from over 40 African countries, fostering investment, tourism growth, and business partnerships.
Maryam Shehu, chairperson of the Government and Stakeholders Relations Committee for AACT Nigeria 2026, stated that a Business and Economic Summit will accompany the championship, focusing on investment, trade, tourism, and economic cooperation. The Ladies Golfers Association of Nigeria (LGAN), which secured the hosting rights, has requested the Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy to co-host the event and designate it as an Official Cultural Economy Event.
Minister Hannatu Musa Musawa noted the championship's potential to broaden Nigeria's tourism narrative. Dr Lami Onayi Ahmed, LGAN President, emphasized the tournament's role in uniting Africa through golf.
This will be Nigeria's third time hosting the championship, following previous editions in 1996 and 2010.
