Borno Stakeholders Urge Release of Abducted Schoolchildren

On Monday, stakeholders from Borno State, led by Deputy Speaker Abdullahi Askira, made a passionate appeal for the unconditional release of 42 schoolchildren abducted by Boko Haram on May 16 from Mussa Primary and Junior Secondary School in Askira Uba Local Government Area. They emphasized that the victims are innocent children and should not be subjected to trauma.

Askira highlighted the emotional distress faced by families and the community during the children's three-week captivity. He commended President Bola Tinubu and Governor Babagana Zulum for their efforts to restore peace and address security challenges in the state.

The stakeholders called for enhanced security measures, particularly in areas near the Sambisa Forest, known as a hideout for insurgents. They requested the establishment of a permanent fortified security architecture, including strengthened school security and rapid response units, to protect the community from further attacks.
