Parents Demand Action for Abducted Students in Borno

On Wednesday, parents in Lassa, Askira Uba Local Government Area, Borno State, staged a peaceful protest demanding the rescue of 36 students and a teacher abducted during a Boko Haram attack on Monday at Government Day Secondary School, Lassa. The parents urged President Bola Tinubu and Governor Babagana Umara Zulum to intensify efforts for the safe return of their children.

The protest coincided with a visit from a high-powered delegation led by the Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Engr. Lawan Abba Wakil.

Parents expressed their emotional trauma and uncertainty, appealing for swift action from the government. Alhaji Aliyu Ibn Samaila Mamza, the Emir of Uba, assured the families that the government would not relent in its efforts to rescue the victims.

The attack resulted in the death of one teacher and left another injured, while 25 female and 11 male students were confirmed abducted. The parents called for calm and expressed their desire for the safe return of their children.
