Kwara Governor: States No Longer Borrow for Salaries

During a recent address in Ilorin, Kwara State, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq announced that states have stopped borrowing to pay salaries, attributing this change to reforms implemented by the federal government under President Bola Tinubu. He emphasized that these reforms have led to improved resource availability, enabling states to manage salaries and infrastructure projects without the need for loans.

AbdulRazaq highlighted that during his first term, the state had to borrow significantly, but the current economic climate has changed, allowing for better management of finances. He mentioned that the state's previous debt has decreased from N170 billion to around N49 billion over two years.

The governor also expressed full support for President Tinubu's programs and encouraged party members to rally behind the APC in upcoming elections, ensuring that the reforms continue to yield positive results for the state's economy and worker welfare.
