Kwara Governor's Revenue Claims Under Scrutiny

Rafiu Ajakaye, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, asserted that the Abdulrazaq administration has raised Kwara State's Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) from N30 billion in 2019 to N90 billion by 2025. However, critics contend that this growth is primarily based on the foundation laid by the previous People's Democratic Party (PDP) administration under Abdulfatah Ahmed and is influenced by broader economic realities, including inflation and increased taxation.

Ajakaye did not address the significant rise in federal allocations to the state, which reportedly averages N2 billion to N3 billion monthly, with a peak of N10 billion. He mentioned ten legacy projects, including the Ilorin Innovation Hub, but critics argue that many projects lack social value and have not addressed pressing issues such as unemployment, insecurity, and poor infrastructure.

The Ilorin Visual Art Centre and other projects have faced delays and financial burdens, raising concerns about the administration's priorities amid community challenges.
