Abdulsalami Abubakar Urges Unity Against Insecurity in Nigeria

Abdulsalami Abubakar, a retired General and former head of state, called for national unity against insecurity in Nigeria during a statement released on the occasion of his 84th birthday. He expressed concern over the worsening security situation in the country, particularly following the recent death of General Abubakar Rabe, which he noted has impacted the nation's security landscape.

Abubakar emphasized that defeating terrorism and criminal activities requires the active participation of citizens alongside security agencies and the government. He warned that political divisions and misinformation, especially on social media, exacerbate the security crisis.

The former leader urged Nigerians to set aside ethnic, religious, and political differences to combat violence and instability. He reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigerian Armed Forces and security agencies to their duties despite challenges, calling for sustained measures to end insecurity and prevent further loss of lives.

Abubakar appealed to citizens to remain calm, law-abiding, and vigilant while offering prayers for the families of security personnel who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
