Abia Govt Raises Alarm Over Water Contamination in Ohanso Community, Sets Up Emergency Team

The Abia State Government has raised concerns about water contamination in the Ohanso community, Ukwa East local government area. The state commissioner of information, Okey Kanu, revealed that hydrocarbon contamination, suspected to be crude oil, was found in a newly dug well in the community.

The government has set up an emergency management team to provide potable water and investigate the extent of the contamination. Commissioner Joel Ogbonna assured that a committee has been established to assess the level of contamination and provide a remedy.

The government emphasized its commitment to ensuring the safety of the community's drinking water and protecting the health of the residents.
