Oyo Government Refutes Crude Oil Discovery Rumors in Ibadan

The Oyo State Government debunked rumors of crude oil discovery in Ibadan, labeling the information baseless. State Commissioner of Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, clarified that reports of crude oil in Yemetu, Ibadan, were false.

Following a petition on suspected water pollution, an investigation revealed diesel spillage in a well in Yemetu, not crude oil. Security operatives recovered 250 liters of the substance, raising concerns of contamination and pollution.

The government provided potable water to affected households to mitigate the impact of the pollution. This incident underscores the importance of verifying information and addressing environmental concerns promptly in Oyo State.
