Abia Lawmaker Erondu Defects to APC, Backs Tinubu

Erondu, a lawmaker representing Obingwa West State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, officially defected from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday evening. He expressed his support for President Tinubu's re-election in 2027, describing the president's reforms as bold.

Erondu's decision was influenced by his desire to attract greater development to Obingwa and to strengthen the APC's position in the region. He was received by APC leaders, including former Deputy Governor and other prominent figures, alongside 5,000 supporters.

Erondu's defection, along with that of former Obingwa Local Government Chairman Georg Ubani and Chikezirim Mondai Orji, is considered a major boost for the APC in Abia State. The PDP has not yet commented on this development, which is viewed as a significant setback for the party in the area.
