Abia PDP Criticizes Governor Otti Over Journalist Attack

The Abia State chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has responded to Governor Alex Otti's comments directed at journalist Chika Nwabueze during a media chat. The PDP, led by Chairman Abraham Amah, expressed concern over Otti's public condemnation of Nwabueze, which they viewed as an attack on the legitimacy of journalism.

The PDP argued that questioning government policies and their impact on ordinary citizens is a constitutional role of the media and should not be met with personal attacks. They emphasized that such actions diminish public discourse and erode confidence in leadership.

The PDP called for respect for press freedom and urged the governor to respond to public inquiries with empirical evidence regarding the outcomes of his policies. Ukoha Njoku, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Otti, was also mentioned in relation to the media's request for data on the impact of Otti's administration on local infrastructure, specifically the rehabilitation of the Ohokobo-Afara road in Umuahia.
