Women Empowerment in Hospitality: Abimbola Adekoya's Vision

Abimbola Adekoya, the current Director of Financial Business Support at Continent Hotel Group, highlighted the significant contributions of women in the hospitality industry during an event commemorating International Women's Day. She discussed the theme of the day, which focuses on giving and gaining, and emphasized the importance of leadership and investment in women's growth.

Adekoya noted that women currently hold 35 percent of top management positions within the group, marking significant progress in an industry where women often face barriers to advancement. She pointed out that the lack of women in executive roles is not due to a lack of capability but rather a lack of opportunities and exposure.

Adekoya called for intentional pathways for qualified women to take on challenging roles, underscoring the importance of mentorship and sponsorship in accelerating progress. She acknowledged the support of male colleagues within the organization, emphasizing mutual respect and commitment to excellence as essential for sustaining momentum in women's leadership.
