ABU Students Win Three Awards at Huawei ICT Competition

Students from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) achieved significant recognition by winning three prestigious awards at the 10th Huawei ICT Competition Global Final, which took place in Shenzhen, China, from June 2 to June 5, 2026. They emerged victorious against teams from 40 countries, showcasing their skills in cloud computing and artificial intelligence.

The students clinched the grand prize in the AI innovation category for their project "Paravis," which is an AI-powered solution utilizing the Huawei Ascend 310B4 chip. Additionally, they secured first place in the cloud computing category and second place in the computing category, earning the coveted Women in Tech Award.

The competition began in October 2025, with 220,000 students participating globally. The ABU team, mentored by Dr.

Bashir Halliru Sani, included Kumba Banna Tekanyi, Yakubu Musa Yakubu, Adekunl Abdulroqeeb Oladimeji, Wakili Sefiu Bolaji, Yunu Muhammad, Ruqayyah Hassan Labo, Khadija Khalid, and Grace Temitayo Olorunfemi. The Vice Chancellor of ABU, Prof.

Adamu Ahm, and other university officials attended the award ceremony.
