Emeka Ike Sues Wike's Aide for N10bn Over Voter Info Leak

Nollywood actor and politician Emeka Ike has initiated a N10 billion fundamental rights lawsuit against Lere Olayinka, an aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. The case was brought before Justice Salim Ibrahim at the Federal High Court in Abuja, which has scheduled further hearings for July 2.

Ike's lawsuit arises from allegations that Olayinka unlawfully disclosed personal voter information related to Ike's registration, which was reportedly shared on social media. This disclosure has raised questions about Ike's eligibility to contest in the Nigeria Democratic Congress governorship primary for the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 elections.

Ike has joined the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as a co-defendant in the suit, seeking redress for the alleged violation of his privacy rights under the 1999 Constitution and the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. He is requesting the court to declare Olayinka's actions unconstitutional and to award him damages.
