Abuja's Transformation Promised by Wike Before 2027

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, declared on Tuesday that Abuja's landscape will be completely transformed before the end of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's first term in office on May 29, 2027. Wike emphasized that ongoing infrastructure projects will not be abandoned despite the upcoming elections.

He spoke during the official flag-off of the Southern Parkway Service Carriageway construction in the Gaduwa District of Abuja, reaffirming the commitment of the Federal Capital Territory Administration to sustain infrastructure development across the nation’s capital. Wike addressed concerns regarding the pace of project execution ahead of the 2027 elections, assuring that development will continue unabated.

He disclosed that he had contacted the Deputy Managing Director of CGC Nigeria Limited to ascertain the timeline for the Southern Parkway project, which is expected to be completed by June 23, 2026. Wike also vowed to intensify efforts against land grabbers who develop land without valid allocations, describing this trend as a major threat to Abuja's master plan.
