Uba Sani Orders Urgent Completion of Kaduna Bypass Road

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has directed the immediate acceleration of the completion of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Western Bypass, citing a concerning increase in fatal accidents along the 21.5-kilometer expressway stretch from Command Junction to Mando Roundabout. During a meeting with critical stakeholders, Sani expressed his deep concern over the tragic loss of lives and emphasized that the current pace of progress on the project, which was awarded in 2021, has been unacceptable.

He stated that the project must be completed ahead of the official timeline of December 2026, and any further delays will not be tolerated. A multi-agency task force, chaired by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Works, has been established to monitor construction and enforce safety measures, particularly during the rainy season.

The task force will also lead a public awareness campaign to promote safer road usage, addressing both infrastructural and human behavior challenges that contribute to accidents.
