Accord Party Commends Tinubu on Osun Account Freeze

Chief Maxwell Mgbudem, the National Chairman of the Accord party, commended President Bola Tinubu for instructing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to reverse the freezing of the Osun State Government's bank account. Mgbudem described the intervention as timely and essential to protect Nigeria's democratic process, particularly ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.

He expressed concerns that the EFCC's actions could influence the election's outcome and called for the resignation of the EFCC chairman, urging President Tinubu to remove him if he did not resign voluntarily. Mgbudem reported that Accord members faced intimidation and harassment leading up to the election and called for the release of about 60 detained Accord members.

He reaffirmed support for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, urging voters to re-elect him and called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure a credible election. Mgbudem also appealed for neutrality from security agencies during the electoral process.
