Police Seal ACF Headquarters Ahead of NEC Meeting

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) headquarters in Kaduna was sealed by police on the eve of its scheduled National Executive Council (NEC) meeting set for May 6. A statement signed by Prof.

Tanko Muhammad Baba, the National Public Secretary of the ACF, indicated that the police's action occurred without apparent reason and was linked to an unsigned circular allegedly attributed to Mr. Bashir Dalhatu, the chairman of the ACF Board of Trustees, claiming the NEC meeting was canceled.

The ACF rejected this claim, asserting that they were not aware of any court order restricting their activities. The statement clarified that only the chairman, Mamman Osuman, has the authority to convene meetings as per the ACF constitution.

The ACF called for the Inspector General of Police to intervene and direct the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police to unseal their headquarters, noting that previous meetings had been held without incident involving security agencies. Delegates had already arrived in Kaduna for the NEC meeting, expressing hope for a resolution.
