ACF Suspends Board Chairman Over Constitutional Breaches

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) suspended its Board of Trustees Chairman, Dalhatu, due to alleged breaches of the organization's constitution. This decision was reached during an emergency meeting held on May 6, 2026, in Kaduna, which was attended by representatives from 18 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The meeting was prompted by reports of police restricting access to ACF headquarters, which was condemned by Prof. Tukor Muhammad Baba, the ACF spokesman. He described the police action as unlawful interference in the forum's internal affairs.

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of ACF stated that the situation does not constitute a leadership crisis but is a result of misinterpretation of constitutional provisions. The NEC also highlighted serious concerns regarding financial management within the organization and called for further investigation.

The suspension of Dalhatu will remain in effect pending the outcome of this investigation, with the ACF reaffirming its commitment to due process and transparency.
